What should I do for bad breath?

Q: What should I do for bad breath?

A: If bad breath, or halitosis, originates from the mouth, improving your oral hygiene is key. Brush your teeth thoroughly twice daily with fluoride toothpaste, floss daily to remove food particles and plaque between teeth, and gently brush or scrape your tongue to eliminate bacteria. Using a water flosser, such as a Waterpik, can further enhance cleaning. Schedule dental cleanings with a hygienist at least twice a year to maintain oral health and address any underlying issues like gum disease or decay. Additionally, stay hydrated, chew sugar-free gum to stimulate saliva, and avoid foods like garlic or onions that can contribute to bad breath. If the problem persists, consult a dentist to rule out other causes, such as medical conditions or infections.
