I need to have an infected tooth extracted. Should I get bone grafting? And how soon does it need to be done?

Q:I need to have an infected tooth extracted. Should I get bone grafting? And how soon does it need to be done?

A:You should get bone grafting to help stabilize the bone of the teeth adjacent to the extraction site. If the socket is infected the surgeon could wait two to three weeks to graft. Otherwise bone graft the day of the extraction.
