My husband uses toothpicks all the time. Is this bad for his teeth?

Q: My husband uses toothpicks all the time. Is this bad for his teeth?

A: There are several different types of toothpicks available:

  1. The old-fashioned, rounded wooden toothpicks available at your corner restaurant
  2. Thin plastic rotadent toothpicks from your dentist
  3. Wedge-shaped stimudent toothpicks available at your drugstore

The rounded toothpicks are the most likely to do damage. Not because of their design, but because they don’t come with any instructions.
